The state's top priority right now is making sure the people of Flint immediately have access to safe, clean water, and that includes reaching every home to supply water, filters, repiacement filter cartridges and water testing kits. The administration is also working with independent experts on testing of the water and will continue to work with them going forward.

Importance: High Fellow PlOs, Gov. Rick Snyder today declared a state of emergency due to the ongoing health and safety issues caused by lead in the city of Flint’s drinking water. The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) has also been activated to coordinate response and recovery efforts. There will be a briefing about the this incident at the SEOC at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6. | am asking a PIO from each key agency to attend the briefing. Key agencies include: e Department of Health and Human Services e Department of Environmental Quality e Michigan State Police e Governor’s Office In addition, we will be also developing a public information strategy for coordinating messaging during this incident.
