Note received this aNernoaan fram Jim Henry, GOHD:
We have not posted the fact sheet as a courtesy to this MDHHS team, exclusively. We greatly appreciate the
assistance relative to the toxicological assessments. However; the delays in communication to the
community, due to the state’s bureaucracy is unacceptable. This process is compromising our relationship and
needs to be expedited. Below are some recommendations for the factsheet from our partners at EPA.
A few thoughts:
1. Under “Learn About Phosohate”, wordering if the term “salt” will concern people on low-sodium or salt-restricted
diets? We agree it's a proper terrn.
2. Secand bullet uncer “Why is there...”, this kind of misses the solder issue, which is probably widespread. [would
suggest something like: “Homes built befora 1987 are more likely to have lead service lines, lead pipes, anc 50% or
more fearied solder. Brass valves and faucets may have lead, and older faucets are Ikely to have higher lead contents.

3. Last bullet same section might say “Pipes, brass fixtures and fittings, and solder...”

ve heard through Tracking that CLPPP and CDC are sometimes at odds about how the data are reported. It’s
not just Mi, other states have the sanie issue. We can see if CLPPP disagrees with any of these definitions.
e Percent of children with confirmed elevated BLLs: The number of children less than 72 months of age with a
confirmed elevated blood lead level 25 g/dL divided by the number of children less than 72 months of age
tested for blood lead, multiplied by 100. Also referenced as “Case Rate.”
That could be a valuable reporting number. Give some perspective to the scope of the issue...

Please find the document attached. Still debating if the map is a good idea because it’s really too small to do what | was
imagining on it. My thought it was could color code it to reflect changes in blood level tests, but Kory brought up the
good point that the colors would then be changing from week to week depending on testing rather than trends.
Could replace it with a table of zip codes and tests by zip code if they decide that’s important or something else...
Executive Summary topics are placeholders. Can update to capture what they want...
