RE: Flint River Inquiry

{ did a little internet searching and found this: In addition, Flint water contains elevated levels of trinalomethane (TTHM), a byproduct of the heavy chlorination of river water to combat bacteria. On January 2, notices were sent to water customers by the city warning that drinking water with excessive amounts of TTHM over “many years” could result in liver, kidney or central nervous system problems as well as an increased risk of cancer. 16 14.pdf) if you google trihalomethane- Trinalomethanes are chemical compounds in which three of the four hydrogen atoms of methane are replaced by halogen atoms. Many trinalomethanes find uses in industry as solvents or refrigerants. Im not aware of monitoring for those parameters anywhere. -Bill William Keiper Aquatic Biologist Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Water Resources Division Office: 517-284-5553 Fax: 517-373-9958 Email: [email protected]

FW: CO2 feed system - Flint MI project

This may be more of your call. This pertains to the Bray Road sludge lagoon site and the new decant structure that will direct decant water from the Flint WTP lime sludge to the sanitary sewer. The work will correct the unauthorized discharge that was occurring at the local receiving stream. Not sure if you have taken a look at the design.....the ODWMA anticipates issuing an Act 399 permit for the work at Bray Road within the next few weeks. | will be in the Frank Balcer room today after 10am for the balance of the day reviewing these plans. RE: PCB TMDL for Flint River

Hi Stephanie, dust to be clear, the Flint River will not be separately assessed for this PCB TMDL. Ibis a statewide TMDL, so data was used from across the state by reviewing fish tissue concentrations and then determining a reduction percentage. We did get a list of facilities statewide with PCB source discharges from DEQ permits and have them Hotec in the draft we are working on. The draft should be available for public review within the next couple manths. bean add you to my list of individuals to contact when the draft ison Public Notice if you would like, let me know. if you stil would like to meet after knawing the above, does 10am work for you?
