Fwd: MDP Statement: Those Responsible for Flint Water Crisis Must Be Held

Accountable Please see below. We're going to address by noting that this move to was something that community had supported as well, that we know Darnell cares deeply about kids and the residents he serves, but that primarily we're focused on future and all the steps we are taking in collaboration with all parties to ensure that Flint has safe drinking water and we're protecting public health, and that we will be conducting a full after action review. Let me know ASAP if anyone has any concerns with that or other tweaks/ideas, otherwise, that's what we're going with. Thanks and best, SW Sent from my iPad Begin forwarded message:

RE: Release on Flint

What if they are shut ing or can’t get there? Where’s the rellef coming from? is the Filnt Transit Authority willing to axtend complimentary transpertetion? Who is gning to exmlain to the recipients how the filter fits on their faucet? | know from experience that my wife never grew up building things out of Erector Sets, and she’s terrible at reading “part a atteches to part b with two bolts enclosed in the third packet, Don't use the ones marked only for Delta faucets oh, you get the point. ” dust a suggestion from a syntax point of view, the construction of the first sentence appears to allay anyone whoisa DHHS client and anyone who is a Flint resident to receive a water filter. Itisn’t clear that it applies to a person whois a Flint resident who receives public assistance and not to other Hint residents. Secondly, don't forget that other Hint residents alse should be entitied to a water filter and although the press release is about DHHS clients, we don’t want to create additional confusion. A thraw-away line about the other residents might be wise.

RE: Updated Memo on Water Coalition Questions - July 29

( think this information is very helpful. It will not answer the main question about the quality of the water (DEQ is working on that through Brad | believe), and the color and smell of the present water, but it does get us to the answers to the less subjective issues. Frankly, the only way the issues will be totally resolved is when the KWA comes on line and the water is perceived to be cleaner and healthier. | am somewhat surprised that the leadership in Flint has not responded better to the community questions, which don’t seem unreasonable at all. Seems like Harvey has a better network into some of the neighborhoods than the city does. The KWA PR department definitely needs to do some outreach or they're headed down the same road as DWSD. Do you know if they go out on a regular basis to the community and talk about the rates, costs, etc.?

Fwd: Contaminated Drink Water if Flint

I have become increasingly concerned about the situation in Flint and the lack of empathy for the residents. I'm not sure that buying water from Ice Mountain or Bill Young makes sense and I don't know about Meijer since they buy it from Bill or local sources and repackage. But, it would seem to me that buying some and giving it to residents who are having discoloration or smell issues would be fair and prudent until it gets ironed out. Maybe this doesn't make any sense to you and if not just chalk it up to the delirium I'm feeling from the sun and drop the idea. Harvey feels the situation is slipping out of hand without some direct response and so does Kelly Rossman. She's talking to Beth today. I worry that swooping in may reinforce the idea that there is something wrong with the water after all. But, it seems to me that that would be small issue compared to blowing off these ministers and their concerns. Of course, we can't supply the water forever so maybe working with Wayne something can be figured out. Begin forwarded message:
