> The Flint River Watershed Coalition has a meeting scheduled with the Commissioner and me on Tuesday. They're going to want to know the implications for the river if Flint puts the plant into operation. Questions to be raised include sludge disposal and implications for recreational use on Holloway and Mott Lake if MDEQ is going to make them implement source water protection plan, and if so, how extensive. See what you can find out, but don't push too hard. > Thanks for the quick response, John > Best regards, > Dave Ss

>> John, does this mean that DEQ is going to let them reopen Bray Road? = >> Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2013 10:49 AM >> To: David Jansen; Matt Raysin; Osborn, Larry; Elgar Brown; Prysby, >> Mike (DNRE) >> Subject: DEQ Meeting with Flint City >> >> As per Mike they are going to operate the plant, with softening, starting in April 2014 when the DWSD contract expires. So, they have to move quickly to improve the plant to manage/produce water 24/7. It sounds like the design will proceed quickly to allow 24/7 operation and much is to be done quickly to meet the deadline. | am sure somethings will slip beyond April but they seem to be in a move quick mode! >> | told Mike that they would get the 60% PS drawings by say Friday the 8th as they are closed Monday. Larry, | assume that is correct. >> It appears that moving the meeting to the 21st is going to be OK for review of the PS drawings. They did not seem to have any heartburn with the standards as presented but it will be a good idea to just open that issue up, on the 21st, to be sure it is vetted. xxxEND_PAGE:deq11_b451_1944_1946_2 >> All seems to progress. >> Any questions let me know. >> John O'. xxxEND_PAGE:deq11_b451_1944_1946_3

KWA Meeting Schedule

I believe we had a very productive meeting on the 10th. Covered many issues and developed scheduling that will be efficient/productive for all concerned and work within the compressed design schedule established to more the project quickly. The next meetings, including DEQ staff, are as follows: -Workshop-November Sth at GCDC at 8:00AM. The first hour, for the DEQ staff, will be devoted to a pipeline surge analysis presentation, -Pump Station Review-November 19th at 8:30AM at GCDC office. The 60% PS drawings will be submitted to GCDC 11/6 and then GCDC_ [WT] to send to both DEQ offices, -Pipeline Review-January 6, 2014 at GCDC office at 10:00AM, the 60% pipeline drawings to be delivered to GCDC on 12/13 and then GCDC [WT] to sent to both DEQ offices. I was agreed that Larry Osborn will hand carry a flash drive to both the Lansing and Saginaw DEQ offices, of the 60% plans, to expedite the review process and they to put on a LAN system as appropriate. It was agreed half size drawings are appropriate at this review stage. It was further agreed that Larry Osborn will email the pipeline PDR and Matt has sent the pipeline map. Any questions let me know. John O' xxxEND_PAGE:deq17_b125_1038_1038_1

Meeting with Flint City and GCDC Office

At our last meeting we discussed a tentative meeting date of June 12th. However, Flint City is in the process of selecting a consultant to review the WTP on how to activate the plant on a daily basis, if needed. That consultant will not be on board until after the June 12 tentative meeting date. Therefore, until a WTP consultant is selected the June 12 meeting is postponed until further notice. It will be necessary to meet with MDEQ, on final design criteria, for the KWA project, but it is hoped we can schedule a joint meeting with both Flint City and GCDC to encompass both projects. More later when the schedule can be firmed up. Any questions let me know. John O' xxxEND_PAGE:deq11_b383_1639_1639_1

We have agreed to meet on the 14th to discuss strategies to mitigate present and any new issues as might be raised by DWSD to try and derail KWA from implementing a New Water Supply from Lake Huron. We will meet at the offices of GCDC at 9:00AM for an open and detailed discussion regarding all of the present issues, or any new, that have or maybe raised! Thanks for coordinating your schedule[s] to attend the meeting. John O' xxxEND_PAGE:deq17_b365_1924_1924_1
