Hello Ron, The health and welfare of Flint residents is a top priority, and we’re committed to working closely with Mayor Weaver and the Genesee County Commission on a coordinated response to health and infrastructure issues. After the County Commission’s vote today, the Michigan State Police’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division is working with the Genesee County Emergency Management Coordinator to gather information about the resources needed for a Governor’s declaration. The state police have been closely engaged in the situation since the beginning, meeting with both county and city leaders to guide them through state and federal laws regarding the emergency management process. Due to the uniqueness of this situation, we have to look at all possible options to help Flint residents. Hey, Ron. | continue to have concerns about how the Journal reports this issue. Here are a few from yesterday. The headline is factually incorrect. Plumbing and fixtures are not the same thing at all. In fact, | sent a note to you guys when | advanced you this piece which specifically said our findings are good news because fixtures are less expensive to replace than plumbing, and our testing indicates there are no deeper plumbing issues so far in the schools we’re checking. The report on Flint's Eisenhower Elementary showed 18 of 43 water outlets had lead levels above [5 parts per billion at least once during testing, exceeding the action limit set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The report was based on water samples collected by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on Oct. 30-31, and included testing from all 43 water fixtures in the school and two out buildings on the property. What would say is that we’re focused on moving forward and ensuring public health and clean, safe drinking water. The governor has outlined a detailed multiple step action plan for both immediate, mid and long term. He has also appointed a task force doing a very important job of reviewing all past actions.
