FW: lead values

Jim and Bob, Eric ran the Lead Modlel this morning a9 requested by you, Jim, on Friday. The model was run using the updated blood lead reference value of 5 ug/dl as well as all of the other updated input parameters. These are the same updated parameters as used by DHHS in conducting their risk assessment for Flint drinking water Le, the drinking water ingestion rates, maternal blood lead concentration and the Michigan-spectfic outdoor air concentration of 0.01 ug/m°. Assuming a drinking water lead concentration of G, the resulting acceptable soil lead concentration is 195 ppm. Let us know if you have any further questions. RE: Update and request for assistance

Great! Right now everything is up in the air and subject to change. Irn simply putting contingency clans in place so ihat dant say something at the press conference that | can't deliver on. Pm hoping that | don't even get tapped to answer a question but | nave fo prepare for that possibility. Kirby and Jule are meeting with key lab staff today to put logether a plan of action that wil allow us to process 400 samples a day 7 days a week. To out that in perspective we ran just north of 4000 lead and copper sempies during all of FY2018. Thank youl George George L. Update and request for assistance

>; Leeming, Susan (DEQ) <Leemings @richigan.gov> Hi Bob and Sue, The Director has requested that | attend a press conference in Flint this afternoon. The press conference is to unveil the State’s plan to assist the city of Flint with respect to lead in the drinking water. | have attached some documents that will be made available but are NOT authorized for distribution yet. xxxEND_PAGE:deq16_b3_0014_0687_024 We are putting together a number of contingency plans at the Lab to accommodate a potentially dramatic increase in sample load. | foresee the clerical aspect as being a potential bottleneck. Depending on the response to the offer for free lead testing we may need clerical assistance at the Lab to assist with data coding (which is the entry of the demographic information into the LIMS) and potentially proofing (which is a 100% review of data coding to check for typos). Would it be possible to get some clerical assistance from staff downtown in the event that the Lab is overwhelmed? The best option would be to have clerical staff from downtown come to the Lab to assist but the potential also exists to have staff enter data remotely by sending data sheets back and forth. The second option is more dangerous as it increases the potential for paperwork to get lost and these will be ultra-high profile samples. Thank you George George L. Krisztian Laboratory Director Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (547) 335-8812 xxxEND_PAGE:deq16_b3_0014_0687_025
