RE: NSF certified water pitchers for copper reduction

5 aaa Contarninant Testing NSF info at this page indicates that filters certified for copper reduction can take 2 3 ppm or 3000 ppb level down to 1300 ppb. Not good enough for peapie with Wilsan Disease who need copper <100. None of the filters certified to remove copper that | can see are also certified to remove lead. Lisa is at a meeting in WI. She can confirm if she’s able to see her e-mail,

Lead removal filters

Eden, To answer your questions: - Ifa filter is certified to Standard 53 it has different certifications for the contaminants that are removed. None of the faucet mount filters are certified to remove copper but | am attaching a performance data sheet for a Brita faucet filter (someone mentioned Brita filters) which is certified to remove lead. - Lead occurs in a dissolved and particulate form depending on the pH. The filters are tested at pH 6.5 and 8.4 and at differing alkalinity. - lam attaching a copy of the Brita faucet filter performance data sheet — | do not know if this is particular model that was given out. - This filter was tested to remove lead at levels of 150 ppb in water for 100 gallons reducing it to 10 ppb which is less that the EPA action level of 15 ppb . - It has an indicator light that turns for green to yellow to red indicating how much life the filter has remaining. The filter turns red at 100 gallons but it is tested to remove 120 gallons as a safety factor.
