RE: Question for you...

Great to see the Cp-Ed) i'm tired of seeing good neaple getting kicked around without a chance to set the record straight. Frankly, the everyday Flirt citizen has been very poorly served by these folks, and without help the city would have been bankrunt and my guess the problern exacerbated. Every single ane cf us is very disappsinted and disheartened by the lead issue, and mo one, especially you and |, thinks lead is accantable at any level even though the feds recognize that a certain ievel is te be expected. A regular Flint ctizer has every right to be ticked off by the findings, and f certainly don’t blame them for being irritated they have this problem, need bottled water and filters, ete, but it’s the old pines that are the problem. Lead doesn’t magically appear or disanpear because of the Flint River water, which we ail, including vou, expressed a lot of reservation about using. But, the river was always the back-up long before EM’s and state involvement, anc the locals went forward with the same understandings. Frankly, the response to the “dirty” water and the srnell ooviousiy precipitated chemical cures which rnay or may not have facilitated the leaching. Some of the levels will be relieved by the Lake Huron water, but riot the assential issue in old cities throughout the country where the only resolution te leaci levels is getting rid of old houses with lead issues and old pipes. Quite an undertaking, but without a viable city if could never be tackhed.

BOe> Dennis, lam attending MASB but will get with staff first thing Monday to deal with this issue. Thanks for your support on the op-Ed. It feels good to have my side of the story out there. Have a great weekend! Darnell Sent from my iPhone Do we have a lot of teaching vacancies in the system? If so, could we attract some retired private school teachers (who | assume would be certificated) to teach in some of the openings? A legislator was complaining today about Renaissance HS having four vacancies and | wonder if we could hire some retired private school teachers for special subjects. | loved the op-ed. Only my PR wife keeps me from writing some much stronger language... xxxEND_PAGE:executiveofficeemails21_b1019_2529_2529_1
