Based upon discussions with Genesee County and the city of Flint, the portion of the 72-inch transmission main (pipeline) that was taken out of service, while the Flint Water Treatment Plant (WTP) treated water from the Flint River, was flushed and disinfected in accordance to AWWA Standard C651-14. Two sets of samples were collected from two locations 16 hours apart for total coliform analysis. The city of Flint and Genesee County has informed the DEQ that both sets of samples are Non-Detect for total coliform. District Engineer Office of Drinking Water and Municipal Assistance Dear Mr. Prysby, Find enclosed the City of Flint and GCDC-WWS proposed disinfection procedure of the 72” water main to supply potable water produced by DWSD to the City of Flint. Thursday, October 8, 2015: Fill and pressurize the 72” water main from Genesee and Richfield roads to a closed valve at station 2, near the City of Flint Water Plant. Approximately 3.5 miles of water main will be filled and pressurized. This represents approximately 3.5 million gallons of water. Friday, October 9, 2015: Flush water from the 72” water main into the Dort Reservoir while introducing chlorine, utilizing the continuous feed method, into the 72” water main, near the intersection of Genesee and Richfield roads, in an effort to achieve a residual of 25 ppm. Hold for 24 hours. Saturday, October 10, 2015: Flush water from the 72” water main into the Dort Reservoir to remove highly chlorinated water
