Just curious, who is making these allegations? Gov. Snyder has bean allocating state resnurces to addrass health and weliness challenges in Filnt since October through his action plan. Paul The health and welfare of Flint residents is a top priority, and we’re committed to working closely with Mayor Weaver and the Genesee County Commission on a coordinated response to health and infrastructure issues. After the County Commission’s vote today, the Michigan State Police’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division is working with the Genesee County Emergency Management Coordinator to gather information about the resources needed for a Governor’s declaration. The state police have been closely engaged in the situation since the beginning, meeting with both county and city leaders to guide them through state and federal laws regarding the emergency management process. Due to the uniqueness of this situation, we have to look at all possible options to help Flint residents. But prior to a formal declaration, we are recognizing this as an emergency and are working with city and county leaders to coordinate efforts, streamline communication and tap all available resources at the state’s control. No formal request has been made to the state at this point. We are committed to working with Mayor Weaver and Genesee County leaders. That issue is discussed in depth on page 6, and the OAG said it was “appropriate” for the DEQ to drop the two water sampling sites. Paul, between you and re, we have concerns about the MLive story. ’'m happy to give you the information first hand. The administration has worked closely with the Cancernmed Pastors group on the water issue, and the mambers are passionate about supparting thelr parishioners and the Hint community as a whole. We certainly share their concern that everyone in Flint should have safe, clean water. Flint water does meet state and federal safety standards, People have complained about the color and the odor, and faucet filters will help with those challanges as well as improving water quality overall, About two months ago, the governor's office worked with a corporate donor to provide 1,500 of the faucet filters. We're appreciative of the efforts of the donor, which didn’t want recognition. We respect those wishes. We are talking with other businesses and groups that might be able to expand the effort. We worked with the pastors group to distribute the filters, and asked that mernbers respect the donor’s wishes not ta be identified. We told the group that were not looking for credit, and appreciated the pastors’ efforts in warking with the community. The governor continues to work with state, federal and cliy staff members and agencies on a variety of stens to build upon what we've already done to help Flint city leaders with their water infrastructure challanges.
