Michelle, I'm copying our GCHD team who participated in the conference call, in case they want to add anything, Attached is the GCHDEI fact sheet and correspondence from the City, regarding their public information efforts. The attached iter is referenced at the end of this email. Most of the questions and concerns that | have received are regarding haw to prevent exposure, even for pets. Most people have mentioned that they cant afford ta purchase bottied water, ar a filter, or even the cost af flushing water for five minutes. Today, a 46 year old man tald me that he and his dog have not drank water or anything else, since he ran out of bottled water two days aga. He wanted to know the risks and explained that he doesn’t have water turned on at his home and had to ask a neighbor, who agreed ta fill a gallon jug, but refuses to flush the water for 5 minutes, because of cost. | da not think this is a unique situation. note: Flint has heen recognized as ane of the highest water rates in the country, which may be partially due to the cost of repairing hundreds of water main breaks annually. in general, the mast immediate concern seems ta be the unknown lead levels and the cast to reduce ar eliminate the risk, We are working with City to ensure that water testing will be timely and available. (Keep in mind not all people can get to the water plant to pick up the sampling bottles} The missing piece seems te be resources for those with elevated lead levels. Dawn has done some research an filters. Attached is a relatively inexpensive, NSF approved filter that would not require installation coats, but requires filter maintenance.
