RE: Flint water filter paragraph for website

Sure, thanks for the edits, Jenn. How does this look? “To ensure safe drinking water, the state of Michigan is providing water filters for free. 1) Governor Snyder has identified $1 million in funding to secure filters for Flint residents. 2) The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will provide filters for free to Flint DHHS clients* in 25,000 households. 3) United Way and community partners are working to secure additional filters and distribute them. Please check mi.gov/FlintWater for regular updates regarding water filters for Flint residents. *The eligible programs are: Family Independence Program (FIP), Food Assistance Program (FAP), Child Development and Care (CDC), State Disability Assistance (SDA) or Social Security Insurance (SSI) recipients.”

Re: Flint water filter paragraph for website

Hi Josh: 2nd point -- can we say "The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will provide filters for free to Flint DHHS clients in 25,000 households."? We would like to stay away from “identified funds" until the amount is finalized. One other thought -- should we put an asterisk after Flind DHHS Clients* and list which program participants are eligible as a footnote at the end? I'll leave it up to you, but those eligible are those who were former DHS clients -- not necessarily all MDHHS clients. We can clarify if asked but it might be better to avoid initial confusion -- we wouldn't want to mislead all HMP enrollees, for example. The eligible programs are: Family Independence Program (FIP), Food Assistance Program (FAP), Child Development and Care (CDC), State Disability Assistance (SDA) or Social Security Insurance (SSI) recipients.
