It was as easy as pushing a button to disconnect from (the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department}; it’s time to push the button again, reconnecting Flint to DWSD and providing Flint residents with the clean, safe water they deserve. "Please reconnect Flint to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department immediately and make water safe and clean for all.” Flint has been in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act since January because of high levels of total trihalomethanes (TTHM), a problem that arose after the city changed its drinking water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River. Levels of TTHM, a byproduct of chlorinating river water, have dropped to allowable armounts in more recent tests, and the city has installed a new a $1.5 million granulated active-charcoal filter in an effort to purily river water. City officials have said Flint water is safe, but have mailed residents, warning of potential health problems related to long-term exposure to high levels of TTHM. The use of the Flint River for drinking water is expected to end next year when the new Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline is expected to be put into service. Since | was the groject manager for the previous Flint loans, ’ve been keaning an eye an the news reports myself. | asked Rowe if they plan on submitting a project plan this May out haven't heard answer frorn thar. Do you know whether Flint is trying to pul together a project plan? if so, with it being such a political oroject, it would be good far me and you to get a copy of the draft project plan, which would ideally be available this month.
