Re: November MOR

We have a few media inquiries asking if we have received a response to our letter. | know you are still working on figuring out if we have everything we need, but I'd like to get them an interim response. Is this accurate? Can | say within a few weeks, or how long do you think it will be before you've gone through the data? Finally, is Nov. 9 the correct date of our letter? | don't have it in front of me. The DEQ has received a response to our Nov. 9 letter to the city, and staff is in the process of reviewing the information and communicating with the city on any follow-up questions. We hope to have more information to share within a few weeks, and we will get it to you as soon as we can.

RE: Ticket #23002-490657 Response Sent

Hello, It is my contention that you have grossly embellished about the water quality in Genesee County; particularly Flint. The response submitted below is prior to the stark discovery that federal laws were violated. It's plain to see that funds have been misappropriated resulting in harm to residents and their families. In the correspondence, below, you have minimized the problem and diverted the blame to individual residents. Considering the public broadcast about our water equality, the culprits are not the residents, but the officials that are designated to ensure the quality of water. Thank you, Sheila

RE: Attached -- Task Force Comments on Residential Sampling Protocol

Attached for your review is EBL water protocol with revisions made in response to EPA comments 2 through 8. Regarding comment #1: some of the issues raised by EPA will be addressed by the GCHD nurse case managers (e.g., filter maintenance). Other issues are difficult to address in the context of the protocol. For example, the timing of exposure relative to an elevated blood test and subsequent EBL investigation will vary between children and will be difficult to identify in most cases. In addition, it’s unlikely that most Flint homes would have been using a water filter prior to Oct 1, 2015. Given the limitations and the need to identify and abate relevant exposures as quickly as possible, the best we can do is measure current lead levels in unfiltered tap water as a proxy for past exposures. | need to share this with our contractors and oversight staff so the changes can be implemented. Please let me know ASAP if you have concerns. Linda

RE: Govenor's report

Date: Monday, December 07, 2015 11:04:00 AM | have not heard from the District, but in addition to the school sampling and preparation of the final report for Brownell we worked on the following: Developed draft sampling for lead and copper compliance sampling incorporating comments received from EPA Task Force. | believe this will be shared with EPA today. Met with DHHS staff to assist with development of a Phosphate fact sheet/brochure. Still waiting to review the updated draft.
