Hello, It is my contention that you have grossly embellished about the water quality in Genesee County; particularly Flint. The response submitted below is prior to the stark discovery that federal laws were violated. It's plain to see that funds have been misappropriated resulting in harm to residents and their families. In the correspondence, below, you have minimized the problem and diverted the blame to individual residents. Considering the public broadcast about our water equality, the culprits are not the residents, but the officials that are designated to ensure the quality of water. Thank you, Sheila

Mike, It has come to my attention and that of the public that federal laws were not adhered to in water quality testing. | am reasonably certain that complaints have been submitted to your office. It is my contention that they were intentionally ignored in the style of the communications, below. | shouldn't have to test my own water. Hello, Have you not heard that the water quality in Michigan is detrimental to its residents? It is filled with lead; killing our children and the elderly who are most vulnerable. What is the EPA doing about this? Even the hospitals are forced to order distilled water for patients (in/out). | want expeditious answers. Thank you, Sheila

Hello, It is unfortunate that you don't track local drinking water information. So in essence your tracking efforts are limited to the auspices of NRCS Water Division only for the conservation of farming and other natural (non- human) resources. What if, by chance, the local water source is not being accurate in their reporting of safe drinking water and source supply? Michael, You may not reside in Genesee County, but you are employed with the State DEQ. Furthermore, rivers meander; meaning, they flow. It matters not to me how far up or downstream the contamination is located. The water supply is already threatened with poor quality for consumption and possibly not the best for hygiene. | appreciate your forwarding my communications to the appropriate parties. Sheila, I was not aware of the sewage discharge since I don't reside in Genesee County and I don't work in the waste water program. I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. The sewage discharge occurred in the city of Flushing and is approximately 20 miles downstream of the Flint Water Treatment river intake; thus the treatment and Flint's water supply was not threatened by this particular discharge. I will follow up with you further on Monday concerning the cost of water. Sent from my iPhone

Although you have stated that you do not regulate the rates, there, perhaps, is an indirect relationship with Michigan DEQ components and rates charged (i.e revolving funds, loans, etc...).
