Mike Prysby and | spoke with Valerie Brader this morning regarding emergency service/backup needs of Genesee County. Specifically, Valerie was interested in knowing whether Genesee County was required to have an agreement with DWSD for emergency service. xxxEND_PAGE:deq19_b02_0037_0259_033 In short, there is no requirement under the Safe Drinking Water Act for the County to have an emergency interconnect with another supply. There are requirements for a supply to have adequate capacity and to be able to provide a means to continuously supply finished water during normal power service interruption. At this time, Genesee County is proposing design criteria that are acceptable for establishing its rated capacity, they are proposing to have interconnect agreements with Grand Blanc Township and the City of Flint, and they are proposing to have excess finished water storage capacity. Attached is a draft violation notice to the City of Flint regarding the exceedance of the drinking water standard for total trihalomethanes (TTHM). If you have any comments please let me know by Friday, we would like to mail this out by Monday at the latest. FYi-~ heads up. Appears that Alpena and Alpena Township are involved in a dispute regarcing water rates. Alpena Township has not been paying the full ammount owed to the city because they belleve the rates are too high. | understand that the balance owed has been placed in an escrow account. The city is considering severing service to the township for lack of payment.
