Articles for the surnmar DEQhbicle newsletter are due by july lath. Please review the guidatines helaw as a reminder of

How to submit an article on happenings in your district, division/office, program, etc.

e 3-5 weeks before publication date: Run article idea by Jennifer Acevedo either by email or
completing the submission form before you draft your article
e 3weeks before publication date: Submit supervisor-approved, final draft of your article to Jsrnifer
Asevede . NOTE: All articles will be reviewed and are subject to editing. If significant changes are made
to the article it will be returned to the author for review.
e Article submission tips:
o Content should reflect the work we do at DEQ (success stories, lessons learned, project
completed, overcoming obstacles/road blocks, successful partnerships, awards, etc.).
o “Newsworthy” content includes elements like timeliness, prominence, significance, impact, out
of the ordinary, innovation, progress, etc.
o Word count should be 200-500 words.
o Include photos of submitting author(s) and project (w/caption text). Videos welcome too.
o Don’t forget to include a catchy title!
o Please note that some articles may be used for external publications. Jennifer will contact you
for approval.
e The “Beyond the Qbicle” section is dedicated to photos of DEQ staff giving back to the community.
Examples include habitat for humanity, cub scouts activities, marathon runners raising $ for a good
cause, etc. Please submit one photo/project with a brief caption. We will do our best to include all
photos we receive, but if spacing is an issue, we will notify you and keep info on file for future
consideration.
