Bob was out of the office last week but is in new anc he has committed to finishing his part for the Hurley study and
sending it on to the State institutional Review Board (IRB) for action as quickly as possible (assuming no further
information is needed fran the researcher}, Protecting the rights and welfare of those who participate in research is the
responsibility of the State iRB, housed within MBHHS. ff living humans are involved in a systernatic collection or
analysis of cate with the intent to generate new knowledge state IRB approval is required. The researcher indicates they
have the Hospital {RB approval and t do believe the state IRB will approve as weil.
We have communicated with the MBHHS IRB to ensure a quick response on thelr part as well. We anticipate the
completion of both processes by mid to late next week.
lwill call you on our conversation at the Opioid Task Force meeting, As youcan imagine, this is also a priority for us.
