RE: Channel 12

Hi Randy, This should definitely come to me te answer rather than being answered at the local office. i'm CC’ Ing Brad Wurfel from DEQ Communications. We can tell her how much SER funding is available, but | don’t think we're the ones who could or should say how much it costs for water, how much it costs to turn the water back on and/or why people in Flint are without water. Thanks, Bob Wheaton Manager of Communications/Public information Officer Michigan Department of Human Services 235 S. Grand Ave. Suite 1510 P.O. Channel 12

Angie Hendershot would like to interview someone from this office regarding what the State pays for SER towards water bills. Turn on fees and the like. ABC 12 is doing a story about the water issues in Flint and the piece their interested in now is about the cost of the water and how much it costs and why so many people are without water. Then what it costs to get the water back on. Do you want us to refer her to you or talk to her locally. | would have to discuss this with Sandi Mose, because SER is in her area. xxxEND_PAGE:executiveofficeemails20_b1893_4609_4611_3

Flint water bills

To
Steve Yager
xxxEND_PAGE:treasury01_b06_0561_0924_179 Steve, I am wondering, if somehow, I could send a letter to the Governor regarding the water bills in the City of Flint. Effective 3-1-13, the City will now require a $350 service fee for turning on water to a home. Shut off accounts and new water applications. Plus a $75 deposit on top of that. The fee was $100. This is on top of a change that took effect just a few months ago of increasing the water fee to $53 per month just to have water in the home. Then the usage is on top of that. This is the city managers way of trying to balance their budget. People in Flint cannot afford this. DHS cannot afford this. It is hurting our SER funding and my CP/CP funding. People in Flint cannot live with these rates. | feel somehow the Governor needs to hear about this. I have asked numerous times to meet with the City manager with no luck. My own Board member is an advisor to the city manager and I have asked him to set up a meeting and he has not. What can we do to get the Governor’s ear? Randy Rauch Child Welfare Director Genesee Co.
