Thanks forthe update on the status of the Lake Huron Water Supply Karegnondi Water Authority project. {| will be the main contact person in the Lansing District who wil be responsible for plan review, issuing ihe construction permits, and participation in upcoming meetings. In the original meetings, we agreed that the Saginaw Bay District wauld review the plans for the intake, raw water pump station anc the transmission line through Sanilac County. The Lansing District was responsible for the raw water transmission line through Lapeer and Genesee Counties plus the treatrnent plant located in Genesee County. John O’Brien et al, from Genesee County Drain Cornmission, participated in these meetings. We have all ready reviewed portions of the craft feasibility study and conceptional plans.

Just wanted to follow-up a meeting we (Sonya Butler, Kelly Hoffman, and I) sat in on last week with Genesee County to discuss the new water authority and their plans for a regional system with Lapeer County, Sanilac County, the city of Lapeer, and the city of Flint. xxxEND_PAGE:deq25_b243_3424_3425_1 In general, they took the opportunity to describe for us their master plan. We discussed options for revolving loan dollars. In addition, they asked if we (the community water supply program) could coordinate the reviews for permitting that would be needed in light of the fact that the project will be crossing district boundaries. T think it will be helpful if we could discuss via a conference call. Since everyone was out last week at the Section meeting, I haven't had a chance to coordinate the conversation yet. Thought I'd share this note to get you thinking about issues you might see on the horizon. Laura - I've included you since the Detroit system is obviously impacted by any proposal that is being discussed. They indicated in the meeting that they had reached an agreement (or at least a meeting of the minds) with the city of Detroit regarding a couple of options available to them relative to proceeding with the proposal. Perhaps you've heard something from the city that might shed some more light on this. Veronica could you please set up a call for us. Friday morning looks good for me. It might have to wait until next week depending on calendars. Kelly - would it be helpful for you to participate in the call in order to hear the discussion from the program side?
