The water is being tested by labs that are certified to do lead analysis in drinking water. To be considered safe the water cannot exceed the EPA lead standard which is 0.015 mg/L. Results are back for the following buildings and test results indicate that the water meets the EPA safe drinking water standard. Motor Pool, 914 Harrison Street Genesee County Jail MeCree Courts and Human Services Building, 630 S. Saginaw Street Circuit Court, 900 S. Saginaw Street Normal water use in these buildings can resume. Additional sampling is underway in other county buildings and will be reported out when the results are in. Building and Grounds Department will be opening closed drinking fountains and faucets in buildings as we receive results that indicate the lead level is in compliance with the EPA guidelines for drinking water consumption.
